SEAMEO RETRAC, July 17, held a training session on “Building an Interactive Smart Board (ISB) at low cost”. ISB has been introduced to the public since 1991, but mainly used in specialized classrooms due to the high cost of equipment and technology.
By utilizing ISB, teachers and learners can directly interact on the screen to enhance the visual effect for teaching and learning.
The Division of Technology has developed an alternative solution helping reduce the cost of the ISB in order to make it more known to the public. With the assistance of free soft-ware and a small cost of less than USD 50 invested in equipment, the traditional whiteboard will be turned into an ISB to make the teaching and learning more convenient and interactive.
Attending the training session were managers of departments of education and training, universities, colleges in Ho Chi Minh City area and surrounding provinces. The participants joined some activities to familiarize themselves with the ISB. In addition to this training workshop, SEAMEO RETRAC will soon introduce the ISB to remote and underprivileged areas and other SEA countries.
