Educational systems across the region have experienced unprecedented disruptions during the last three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While the pandemic has helped us witness many vulnerabilities and weaknesses, especially the unpreparedness of schools and educational institutions for massively shifting from the traditional face to face instruction classrooms to online/virtual teaching practice, it has obviously shown a strong solidarity and resilient response among leaders, teachers, parents and different stakeholders in society in coping with challenges and their negative effects to sustain educational activities, retain quality of teaching and learning, and rebuild remarkable learning experiences for students during and after the pandemic.
With the purpose of updating and introducing innovative practices in this area among institutions in the region in the renewal of education in the post COVID pandemic, SEAMEO RETRAC is going to convene the Educational Forum on “Practices and solutions to sustain the quality of education in the post-COVID-19 pandemic in Southeast Asia” on September 29, 2022. The forum, which is conducted back to back with SEAMEO RETRAC’s 25th Governing Board Meeting, will provide a professional platform for RETRAC Governing Board members who are policymakers, professional educators, educational leaders from SEAMEO Member Countries to share best practices and innovations that have been successfully implemented or currently practiced to enhance educational quality, advance students’ participation and capabilities and mitigate the impacts of the pandemic in education. The forum will also serve as a mutual platform for collaborations in education among educators and educational leaders while practices in sustaining educational quality will be updated and lessons learned from Southeast Asian countries will also be exchanged so that key principles, expectations and requirements can be outlined to shape the development of a “New Normal” for education to prepare for the next phase of educational challenges in the post crisis.
Details about the Forum are as follows.
Theme of the Forum
The theme of the Webinar is “Practices and solutions to sustain the quality of education in the post- COVID-19 pandemic in Southeast Asia”.
