Seminar on Shadow Education: Private Supplementary Tutoring and Its Implications in Asia
On December 16, 2013, SEAMEO RETRAC hosted the Seminar on Shadow Education: Private Supplementary Tutoring and Its Implications in Asia.
Prof. Mark Bray, Chair of Comparative Education of UNESCO and Dr. Ora Kwo from Faculty of Education, Hong Kong University were presenters and facilitators of the seminar which attracted about 60 educational managers, teachers and graduate students from a variety of universities and colleges, Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Duong Departments of Education and Training. The seminar provided participants with interesting information about shadow education in Asian countries. It was also a forum for educational managers, teachers and students to exchange issues related to private tutoring as well as regulating this phenomenon in Vietnam.
