Scholarships
Applications for the 2013 ASEAN Scholarships for Vietnam are now open.
The ASEAN Scholarships for Vietnam is tenable for 4 years leading to the award
of the Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education ‘Advanced’ (GCE A-Level)
(or equivalent) certificate.
The Scholarship is for studies in selected Singapore schools from Secondary
Three to Pre-University Two and is renewed annually, subject to the satisfactory
performance of the scholar.
Students from Vietnam are nominated by the Vietnam Ministry of Education &
Training for the scholarships. Candidates who are not short-listed for the scholarships
will be considered for the Merit Awards.
Eligibility
Students must meet the following criteria to be nominated for the scholarship:
Nationals of Vietnam
Born between 1996 – 1998
Completed certificate of Lower Secondary Education in a Gifted Education School
Performed consistently well in their examinations
Be proficient in English

Candidates short-listed for the selection test/interview will be notified a
week before the selection test/interview dates. We regret that only short-listed
candidates will be notified.

Allowance of S$2,200 (Secondary) / $2,400 (Pre-University) per annum with hostel
accommodation
Settling-in allowance of S$400 (once only)
Economy class air passage to Singapore and back to home country upon completion
of scholarship term
Waiver of school fees (excluding miscellaneous fees)
Waiver of GCE O-Level and A-Level (or equivalent) examination fees (once only,
if applicable)
Subsidised medical benefits and accident insurance cover
Bridging course (if applicable, in Singapore before start of course)
There is no bond attached to the scholarship

ASEAN Graduate Scholarship
The ASEAN Graduate Scholarship is offered to the bright students who have achieved
success in the field of academics and have made their parents and institutions
proud of them.
Stated below are the terms and conditions of the ASEAN Graduate Scholarship,
which are:
A one-time book allowance of S$500.00.
A monthly stipend of S$1, 350.00.
Micellaneous fees, compulsory fees, health insurance and other expenses as well
as allowances. The cost that is required to travel to the nation/island/ country
of Singapore from the homeland. Cost of the business study mission that has been
undertaken within the time limit of the completion of the study for which scholarship
has been granted. The cost required for flying back home after the completion
of the study. No kind of bond is attached to the scholarship. Deferment of the
period of scholarship is not allowed and in such cases the scholarship would
be passed on to other eligible candidates.
The other factors associated with the ASEAN Graduate Scholarship are:
Only citizens of those countries who are a member of the ASEAN (Association
of South East Asia Nations) are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
Those candidates who have been already granted other scholarships offered by
this nation cannot apply.
The students/candidates must have the backing of a good academic record, should
be able to write and converse in English fluently and must have work experience
of two years.
The candidates who at the initial level were not acquainted with the language
of English have to score highly at the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
or at the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
With the application form the documents that one is required to submit are the:
Birth certificate or the passport as it mentions the date of birth.
A document that would prove the students' nationality.
Certificates or mark sheets of school, colleges and universities and of institutions
that the students have been a part of.
The result of the TOEFL or the ITES and this applies for candidates who are
required to sit for these tests.
Documents that would prove the fact that the candidate has worked for two years.
The applicants are required to pay the application fee that varies depending
on the course of study along with the application form and it is non refundable.
Given below are the instructions regarding the applying for the scholarship,
which are:
The application form should be submitted online.
The applicants must get a print out of the Transcript Request Form as well as
the Referre's Report Form from its own web page. The former should be send to
the applicant's referees and the latter should be sent to the authority of the
institution or the university from which the student has graduated. Required
documents should be send by post. Check that the top left hand corner of the
envelope mentions, "ASEAN Graduate Scholarship."
The students would get informed about the fact that the form as well as the
documents has been received.
Incomplete forms as well as forms without the necessary documents would not
be accepted.

A* STAR Graduate Scholarship (AGS)
The A* STAR Graduate Scholarship (AGS) provides for PhD studies in various
exciting fields of research. Scholars are supervised throughout their course of
study. The AGS comprises two schemes, the AGS (Local) and AGS (Overseas). Areas
covered under both programmes include Biomedical Sciences, Physical Sciences
and Engineering.
AGS (Local)
The AGS (Local) scholarship scheme is a collaboration between A*STAR Graduate
Academy (A*GA) and the Graduate Schools of NUS and NTU, with the PhD degree
awarded by either universities. It offers a "4+2" scholarship - comprising a
four-year PhD study tenable at either NUS or NTU, and a two-year post-doctoral
fellowship (PDF)* at a top overseas university or research laboratory in the
scholar's chosen field.
The AGS The AGS (Overseas) scholarship scheme is a collaboration between A*STAR
and an overseas university, with the PhD degree awarded by the overseas university.
Currently, A*STAR has arrangements with Imperial College London, University of
Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, Karolinska Institutet, Sweden, University of Dundee,
Scotland and Carnegie Mellon University.
The scholarships are open to nationals of ASEAN countries.

ASEAN Secondary Scholarships
ASEAN Scholarship for Vietnam
The scholarship is for studies in selected Singapore schools from Secondary
Three to Pre-University Two and is renewed annually, subject to the satisfactory

14 to 16 years of age, with a completed certificate of Lower Secondary Education
